Sh. Abdelrehman badawy
Resident scholar

Sheikh Abdelrahman Badawy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He received his Islamic education at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, Saudi Arabia where he first studied Arabic Language before moving on to a degree in Islamic Law & Legal Theory. Sh Abdelrahman is now serving as the Resident Scholar at MAS Staten Island and an instructor in Fiqh at Mishkah University.

Sh. Ahmed tahoun

Sheikh Ahmed Tahoun excels in Quranic sciences, specializing in recitation and Maqamat. He holds Ijazahs in all 10 Qirat, a testament to his expertise, and a Bachelor’s degree from Al-Azhar University, Egypt.  Sheikh Ahmed will serve as our Imam, leading both our Quran Institute and adult programming, enriching our community’s spiritual education.

Did you know that Salah — including Taraweeh — at MAS Staten Island is sometimes led by our incredible team of young Imams? Takbeer! These dedicated youth volunteer year-round, and many are locally trained Huffaz. Alhamdulillah, their passion and commitment continue to inspire the next generation to memorize the Qur’an and follow in their footsteps as future Imams.
