Islamic Social Services New York Department - MAS Staten Island
MAS Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York would like to present the start of our Social Services Department that will be dedicated to helping strengthen our community around Mental Health, Social Development, and Family Wellness.
“There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment.” – Prophet Muhammad PBUH
MAS BK/SI Social Services Department was created as a need to fill in the gaps that are missing within our Muslim community. We provide low cost affordable in-house counseling at our MAS Youth Center. We also assist with finding a therapist, provide psycho-education workshops, Mental Health Mondays & so much more! Our goal is to bridge the gap between mental health & the Muslim community while also normalizing conversations about wellness. Follow us on our social media pages to stay connected.

June is Men’s Mental Health Month and so as it comes to a close, remember to acknowledge that the men in our lives are just as prone to the pressures of this life. The days of struggling in silence must come to an end. Let's end the stigma and normalize men seeking help too. Let us know in the comments how we can better hold space for mental wellness conversations that can be inclusive to everyone within our community.

Some of the services we spoke of in our last post were referring to our hope to help assist anyone wanting to reach out for therapy whether that be individual, couples, or family therapy. We wanted to break down the steps to expect when reaching out to us when you fill out our Google form in our bio. We aim to make the first step in seeking help as easy as possible so if you or anyone you know is looking to take that step, fill out the form and we'll be sure to reach out and help in any way we can!

Ramadan is a time where we seek forgiveness, apologize and settle arguments between ourselves and others. But it is also on understanding that our sole reliance is on Allah (SWT). Strengthening that relationship and humbling ourselves helps us in making the best of this Holy month. ... See MoreSee Less
